Ms Noemí Domínguez García, Vice-Rector for International and Institutional Relations, Ms Ana Cuevas Badallo, Secretary General, and Ms Emma Camarero Calandria, Director of the Documentary and Lecturer in Audiovisual Communication at the University of Salamanca, presented the documentary “Ethiopia, Forgotten Hopes”.

The audiovisual document presented shows the 7th stage of the round-the-world cycling journey undertaken by the members of Biciaventura Solidaria (website). Having covered such disparate places as Istanbul, Jerusalem, India and Nepal in previous editions, on this occasion the 12 members of the team cycled almost 1,500 km across Ethiopia, with the solidarity-driven aim of improving the living conditions of children at risk of exclusion in one of the country's poorest regions, scarred by famine and the recent armed conflicts.

Thanks to the donations of the sponsors collaborating with this project, “Biciaventura Solidaria” will fund the upkeep of 150 children at the Saint Mary orphanage, run by the Spanish missionary Angel Olarán, and will provide microloans to families to develop beekeeping and livestock farming in the northern town of Wukro.

The presentation took place on the evening of 15 December 2010 in the Auditorium of the Hospedería Fonseca before an audience of approximately 100 people.
