The worlds of education and culture are in mourning following the news of the death of Germán Sánchez Ruipérez in the early hours of Sunday 12 February 2012, while he was spending a few days' rest in the Dominican Republic with his wife Ofelia.
Among the many honours he received throughout his life, the Honorary Doctorate in Education Sciences from the University of Salamanca was for him one of the most cherished; as he himself remarked, “today I am living in a dream from which I would never wish to wake”.
This Institute, as the promoter of that event just one year ago, mourns his loss and believes that the best tribute we can offer him is to continue working and collaborating with the legacy he has left us: his most cherished work, the Foundation that bears his name.
The IUCE will be with his family and friends at the funeral, which is expected to be held at the Church of La Purísima on Thursday 16 February at 1 pm.
Rest in peace, Dr Germán Sánchez Ruipérez.
